NMMS - ਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਮੀਨਜ਼-ਕਮ-ਮੈਰਿਟ ਸਕਾਲਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਇੱਕ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਸਪਾਂਸਰਡ ਸਕਾਲਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਸਕੀਮ ਹੈI ਇਹ ਸਕੂਲ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਖਰਤਾ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੇ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਪੱਖੋਂ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਵਰਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੋਣਹਾਰ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਵਿੱਤੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਗੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। NMMS ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੈਕੰਡਰੀ ਪੱਧਰ 'ਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਸਾਲ 12,000 ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਵਜ਼ੀਫਾ ਰਾਸ਼ੀ ਦੀ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈI ਹਰ ਸਾਲ, ਇਹ ਸਕਾਲਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਨਵੰਬਰ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸਰਗਰਮ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਲਗਭਗ 100,000 ਸਕਾਲਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਹੋਣਹਾਰ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੰਡੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪੰਜਾਬ ਰਾਜ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਲਗਭਗ 2210 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਕਾਲਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ। NMMS – National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship is a Centrally sponsored scholarship scheme. It is implemented by the Department of School Education & Literacy with the objective to financially support the meritorious students of economically weaker sections of the society. NMMS encourages disadvantaged students to continue their studies at the secondary level by offering a scholarship amount of INR 12,000 per annum. Every year, this scholarship is made active during the month of November and almost 100,000 scholarships are disbursed among bright students. About 2210 students from Punjab get scholarships
